Corey Parker dead at 60: Will & Grace actor passes after long battle with cancer

The news spread quietly at first — just a few lines posted online late in the evening. Within hours, however, fans and former colleagues began sharing memories, photos, and short messages filled with disbelief. Another familiar face from the golden years of television had gone, leaving behind a career that many viewers had grown up watching.

For decades, he had been one of those actors audiences instantly recognized. Even if they couldn’t always recall his name, they remembered the roles — the witty supporting characters, the charming guest appearances, the moments that made entire scenes unforgettable. Behind the camera, friends described him as warm, humble, and deeply devoted to his craft.

In recent years, the actor had been quietly battling cancer. The illness was something he chose to keep largely private, continuing to support younger performers and remain involved in creative projects whenever his health allowed. Those close to him say he never lost his sense of humor or his passion for storytelling, even during the most difficult moments.

The beloved television actor who has now passed away is Corey Parker, known for appearing in the hit sitcom Will & Grace as well as a variety of films and television projects throughout the 1980s and 1990s. He died Thursday in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 60 after a long battle with cancer.

Parker first appeared on screen in the mid-1980s, landing an early role in the cult horror sequel Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning, where he portrayed the character Pete. Not long after, he took on a small role in the romantic drama 9½ Weeks, which starred Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke.

Television audiences came to know him best when he secured a leading role in the sitcom Flying Blind. In the series, Parker played Neil Barash — a socially awkward young man navigating life and relationships opposite Téa Leoni’s lively Alicia. Although the show ran for just one season, it gained a loyal following and featured several recognizable faces, including Lisa Kudrow.

He later appeared in the popular NBC comedy Will & Grace, portraying Josh — one of Grace Adler’s boyfriends — across several episodes. Over the years, Parker built an impressive list of credits that included Biloxi Blues, White Palace, Love Boat: The Next Wave, Nashville, and Blue Skies.

In more recent years, Parker stepped back from acting and focused on mentoring young performers. He worked as an acting coach on projects such as Sun Records and the Marvel series Ms. Marvel, helping guide a new generation of actors entering the industry.

Acting ran in his family. His mother, Rocky Parker, was also an actress and had previously been married to actor Patrick Dempsey in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His sister Noelle also pursued a career in the entertainment world.

For fans and colleagues alike, Corey Parker will be remembered not only for the roles he played on screen, but also for the quiet influence he had behind the scenes — encouraging young talent and leaving a lasting mark on those who had the chance to work with him.
