Assuming these ‘methods’ could also apply to Obama, Daily Mail/J.L. Partners took the liberty of asking Americans who they think would win in a race between the former and current POTUS.
Of the 1,013 registered voters who took part, seven percent admitted they were ‘unsure’, or would vote ‘other’ in such an election.
However, more than half of the respondents were confident in their answer. If Trump and Obama were to go head-to-head, it would be Democrat Obama who would take the win.
Obama found support from 52 percent of the poll participants, while Trump trailed with 41 percent of the vote.
The poll did have a 3.1 percentage point margin of error, but even if that was taken into account, Obama would still storm ahead.
The Daily Mail has noted that Obama’s 11 percent lead stems from a Hispanic voter base, 73 percent of which selected Obama, as well as 68 percent of Black voters.
When it came to independent voters, Obama once again took the lead with 50 percent of the vote, in comparison to 39 percent for Trump.
The poll also revealed insight into approval ratings for the current leader, with 49 percent overall saying they approved of Trump’s job performance as president, while 51 percent had an unfavorable view.
If Trump were to run against Hillary Clinton, however, it would be Trump who took the win, according to the poll, with 44 percent of voters choosing the former reality TV star, in comparison to 43 percent who said they would vote for Clinton.
Though the Constitution as it stands does hinder the possibility of a race between Trump and Obama ever taking place, the Republican has said such an election would be a ‘good one’.
Speaking to Fox News in March, he said: “I’d love that …. That would be a good one. I’d like that.”
