He recorded his first album, El Malo, at just 16 years old in 1967. Alongside Héctor Lavoe, he formed a duo that would later become iconic in the world of Latin music. Their orchestra delivered timeless hits such as Calle Luna, calle Sol, Abuelita, and El día de mi suerte. Together, they released 16 albums.
Colón was not only a trombonist but also a poet, composer, and musical director. In 1976, he launched his solo career with The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, followed by Solo in 1988. He later collaborated with Rubén Blades, producing six more influential albums that cemented his status as one of the most important artists of his generation.
