The world of music has once again been shaken by news that made millions pause… A legend, whose songs lived in the hearts of generations, passed away quietly, almost unnoticed — leaving behind only music and memories.
His voice was familiar even to those who didn’t remember band names. His melodies became the soundtrack to life’s most important moments — from youth to maturity. And now — sudden silence.
Just recently, he was sharing plans, joking, talking about music and life… But behind those words, something more was already скрыто. Something only those closest to him truly knew.
It is about Dave Mason — the legendary British musician and co-founder of Traffic, who has died at the age of 79.

His passing was confirmed by his family through an official statement. According to them, he died peacefully at home — sitting in his favorite chair after cooking dinner with his wife. His dog was by his feet, and the landscapes he loved surrounded him.
The cause of death has not yet been disclosed, though it is known that in recent years he struggled with serious heart issues. Because of this, he canceled his 2024 tour and announced his retirement from touring in 2025.
Dave Mason was not just part of a legendary scene — he stood at the origins of an entire era’s sound. Together with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, and Chris Wood, he founded Traffic in 1967. Their hits, including “Feelin’ Alright?”, became iconic.
After leaving the band, he built a successful solo career, giving the world songs like “Only You Know and I Know” and “We Just Disagree.” Over the years, he collaborated with legends such as Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Paul McCartney.
His brief time with Fleetwood Mac also left a mark on music history. But above all, he will be remembered as an artist who lived for music until his very last breath.
He endured the loss of his son and sister, yet remained true to himself until the end — calm, sincere, and devoted to his craft.
He is gone… but his songs will continue to play where words are no longer enough.
