In a world that’s more sex positive than ever, it’s no surprise to hear more people talking about what’s between their legs, even if it’s something that you’re probably stuck with for life, despite ‘penis filler’ reportedly being on the rise among Gen Z.
Whatever you’ve got going on down there, it’s likely that you’ve had it for some time, and whether you love it or hate it, there’s nothing to stop you being a strong performer in the bedroom if you know what your partner really wants.
Average size surveys are done seemingly every year and they always seem to settle around the five inches mark for an erect penis, and if you’re some way off that and over the age of 18, then I’m afraid I have some bad news for you.
You might be wondering if your manhood might have a second wind at some point but a doctor has now clarified that it’s unlikely to progress any further when you reach the age of 18, unless you’re a particularly late bloomer when it comes to puberty.
Urologist and sexual wellness expert Dr Jamin Brahmbhatt told Men’s Health that the moment you’re done with puberty is when your wonka has indeed stopped growing.
“Most penile growth happens during puberty when testosterone goes up,” he explained. “By about 18 – the end of high school for most boys – length and girth are essentially set.”
Do big hands and feet mean anything in terms of penis size?
Dr Brahmbhatt also put to bed the age-old myth that if you’ve got big feet, or big hands, it will translate to penis length.
He said the ‘research suggests that there aren’t really any differences’.
However, a 2011 study found that the lower the ratio between the index and ring finger of a man, the longer his penis is likely to be. The scientists reckoned it might have something to do with prenatal sex hormones.
Turning to feet, a 2002 study found that ‘the supposed association of penile length and shoe size has no scientific basis’.
Dr Brahmbhatt also says porn is a big reason why people are unrealistic when it comes to penis size, as he adds that it’s like ‘believing all the CGI in movies are real’.
So, if you’re ever feeling down about your own crown jewels, just remember that what you’re seeing online is never really a true reflection of real life.
What is the average UK penis size?
If you’re living in Britain then there is some good news, because penises have apparently increased in size by 10 percent since 2022. The average length was 5.17 inches across the UK, but now stands at 5.63 inches, as of 2024.
Another study in 2015 asked women what the ideal penis size for a long-term partner would be, and they said 16 cm (6.3 inches) – which is just 0.67 inches above the UK average.
It isn’t all good news however as around 80 percent of us men are likely to suffer with erectile dysfunction once we reach our 80s, so we might as well get the most out of ours while we still can, and yes that does mean giving up on your silly trends like No Nut November.
