His passing was confirmed by his family through an official statement. According to them, he died peacefully at home — sitting in his favorite chair after cooking dinner with his wife. His dog was by his feet, and the landscapes he loved surrounded him.
The cause of death has not yet been disclosed, though it is known that in recent years he struggled with serious heart issues. Because of this, he canceled his 2024 tour and announced his retirement from touring in 2025.
Dave Mason was not just part of a legendary scene — he stood at the origins of an entire era’s sound. Together with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, and Chris Wood, he founded Traffic in 1967. Their hits, including “Feelin’ Alright?”, became iconic.
After leaving the band, he built a successful solo career, giving the world songs like “Only You Know and I Know” and “We Just Disagree.” Over the years, he collaborated with legends such as Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Paul McCartney.
