Star Wars actor dies aged 64

The world of film and animation has been shaken by sad news: an actor whose voice was known to almost every fan of the legendary space saga has died at the age of 64.

His face did not always appear on screen, but it was his voice that brought to life characters who became part of childhood, memories, and entire generations of viewers.

For millions, he was not just a voice actor. His tone was associated with wisdom, strength, humor, and a special warmth that cannot be faked.

The actor was Tom Kane, a well-known American voice actor who died on Monday. The sad news was confirmed by his agency, Galactic Productions, which published a farewell message on Facebook.

Fans remember him best as the voice of Yoda in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, where he worked from 2008 to 2020. Through his performance, the legendary character gained a new voice for an entire generation of fans.

In its farewell statement, the agency said the world was saying goodbye to “a legendary voice actor whose work shaped the childhood and imagination of millions around the world.” It also stressed that his voice had become part of the stories viewers would carry with them for many years to come.

In addition to Yoda, Tom Kane voiced other characters in the Star Wars universe. In particular, he voiced Admiral Ackbar in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and also worked on video games, animated series, documentaries, and theme park attractions.

His career began very early. At just 15 years old, in his native Kansas City, he started working with his voice. Later, his talent led him to major franchises, including Call of Duty, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and Marvel Future Revolution.

Viewers could also hear him as Professor Utonium in The Powerpuff Girls from 2016 to 2019. His vocal range allowed him to sound equally convincing in both dramatic and comedic roles.

In 2020, the actor was forced to retire after suffering a stroke that seriously affected his ability to speak. At the time, his daughter Sam said the illness had damaged the speech center of his brain.

Tom Kane left behind not only a huge creative legacy. He is survived by his wife, Cindy, and their nine children. In its statement, the agency emphasized that behind the remarkable career was an extraordinary man, a devoted father, and a loving husband.

His voice may have fallen silent, but the characters he brought to life will remain with millions of people forever. As the farewell message said: “May the Force be with you, always.”
