“These rights are never guaranteed. You must remain vigilant throughout your entire life.” A pessimistic view, to say the least, but at the same time, a very truthful one.
Just days before the midterm elections, Democratic candidate Eric Swalwell released a video showing the arrest of a woman who had an abortion. The footage, widely shared on social media, is disturbing.
A shocking film.
A baby babbles while swallowing purée, while his older sister doesn’t hesitate to tell their parents that the little one is strange. The peaceful family is enjoying a quiet dinner when the police knock on the door: “Mary Anderson? We have a warrant for your arrest.”
Two officers tell her that she broke the law by having an abortion and that her doctor has already been arrested. When her partner tries to intervene, the officers pull out handcuffs and arrest her: “We’re just enforcing the law.”
A gripping campaign video that reminds us that elections have consequences.
Doubts Over Abortion Rights
“This is what it will look like,” tweeted the candidate running for reelection in California, a state that positions itself as a safe haven for women seeking abortions. Despite the Democrats’ efforts, polls point to a Republican victory, with Republicans strongly opposing abortion. This does not bode well for women’s rights or the rights of minorities across the country.
And what about France? On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, the Senate refused to include the right to abortion in the Constitution, voting against the proposed amendment. The proposal was intended to prevent this right from being overturned or challenged, as is currently happening on the other side of the Atlantic.
Men and the pro-life movement are clearly not ready to let women take control of their own bodies…
