The No Kings demonstrations took place in 2500 cities across all 50 states, including New York, Miami, and Los Angeles.
Soundtracked by Kenny Loggins’ 1986 hit, ‘Danger Zone’, from the 1986 film, Top Gun, the clip depicted the Republican piloting the fictitious ‘King Trump’ jet.
While wearing a crown, the businessman ‘flew’ over New York City, where he unloaded what appears to be buckets of faeces over apparent protestors.
Trump’s jaw-dropping video was first shared via a popular X (formerly Twitter) account and has made its way to Reddit, where users have been having their say.
“Imagine just one second that any other president ever did something like this…,” said one Redditor.
A second commented: “Can’t believe that’s a president of a country,” while someone else typed: “Republicans – y’all must be so proud.”
A fourth reported: “Every time he does anything, I truly question whether this is real life. He’s supposed to not only be a president but he’s a f***ing grown man.”
According to Variety, Trump had also shared a few other videos, including one of him putting a crown on top of his head while Avenged Sevenfold’s ‘Hail to the King’ plays.
House Speaker Mike Johnson and congressional Republicans have branded the No King protests as ‘Hate America” rallies, with the former claiming House Democrats were ‘selling T-shirts for the event’.
“It’s being told to us that they won’t be able to reopen the government until after that rally because they can’t face their rabid base,” Johnson alleged, referring to the ongoing government shutdown.
The ‘No King’ coalition has said in an unsigned statement that Johnson is ‘running out of excuses for keeping the government shut down’, as per Politico.
“Instead of reopening the government, preserving affordable healthcare, or lowering costs for working families, he’s attacking millions of Americans who are peacefully coming together to say that America belongs to its people, not to kings,” it continues.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump appeared to address the US rallies, which have also taken place in Miami, Los Angeles, and other major cities.
“A king! This is not an act,” Trump said in a preview clip of the interview. “You know – they’re referring to me as a king. I’m not a king.”
It’s reported that 100,000 people had gathered across all five of the city’s boroughs, and that no protest-related arrests were made.
Democratic lawmakers, including Bernie Sanders, Raphael Warnock, Adam Schiff, Cory Booker and Chuck Schumer, all attended the nationwide rallies, as per The Guardian
