During an interview with The Economist which was released on October 23, Bannon revealed how the strategy could see Trump remain in power.
Bannon was also dismissive of the constitutional law that prevents presidents from being elected more than twice. This is known as the 22nd amendment.
He continued: “There’s many different alternatives. At the appropriate time, we’ll lay out what the plan is, but there’s a plan.
“He’s gonna get a third term. Trump is gonna be president in ’28, and people just sort of [need to] get accommodated with that.”
Bannon also argued that Trump will have an easier road to the White House in 2028 than he did in 2016 or 2024 and that ultimately it won’t matter who the Democrats run with.
Most concerningly, the former adviser added that he believes Trump is a ‘vehicle of divine providence’.
He said: “He’s not perfect. He’s not churchy, not particularly religious, but he’s an instrument of divine will. And you could tell this by how he’s been able to pull this off. We need him for at least one more term, right? And he’ll get that in ’28.
“We had longer odds in ’16 and longer odds in ’24 than we’ve got in ’28. We have to finish what we started.”
These comments come as fears of Trump making an authoritarian power grab are at an all time high.
Over the weekend, thousands of people took to the streets to protest in the ‘No Kings’ demonstrations to mark their disapproval of this possibility.
These demonstrations took place in an estimated 2,500 cities across the entirety of the US. Trump has repeatedly made light of these concerns and shared AI videos to his social media pages mocking the protestors while wearing a crown.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump appeared to address the US rallies, which took place in Miami, Los Angeles, and other major cities.
“A king! This is not an act,” Trump said in a preview clip of the interview. “You know – they’re referring to me as a king. I’m not a king.”
