A small plane has crashed into a building at a Los Angeles area airport after it was stolen from a flight school, it has emerged.
A thief allegedly broke into Van Nuys Airport around 4am and took a single-engine Cessna, before crashing it into a building, KNBC reported.
Video of the crash site showed how the plane went nose-first into the building, resulting in a hole being left in the side of the hangar.
Law enforcement officials have not yet released details about how the theft occurred, but did note the plane never made it off the ground.
A suspect has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of aircraft, according to Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Both the LAPD and FBI responded to the scene. It is unclear whether the authorities are searching for any additional suspects.
Authorities also have not confirmed if anyone was injured during the incident.
