That young man was Christopher Landon, the son of legendary American actor Michael Landon, best known for Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie, and Highway to Heaven. Michael died at the age of 54 after a serious illness, when Christopher was only 16.

Soon afterward, he learned that Michael had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
