Flying is convenient, but it can come with annoyances—like a kid kicking your seat. That’s exactly what happened to a 14-year-old girl and her dad on a nighttime flight from India.
They were flying a budget airline with limited legroom. Soon after takeoff, a 9- or 10-year-old boy sitting behind the girl began kicking her seat. Her dad politely asked him to stop, and while the boy did—he started again within seconds. A firmer warning didn’t help.
Frustrated, the dad reclined his seat fully, prompting complaints from the boy’s family. They called a flight attendant. The boy’s dad protested: “This man put his seat down, and my wife is uncomfortable.”
The flight attendant calmly asked, “Would you like to keep it down?”
“Yes, please,” the dad replied.
“Then he can. That’s not his problem,” the attendant said, leaving the other dad grumbling.
Eventually, the child’s parents told him to stop kicking. They continued to glare at the girl, her dad, and the flight attendant, but the kicking stopped. Her dad kept the seat down for another hour, then raised it—satisfied the lesson had been learned.
