Her Brother Seeks to Take on a Father Figure Role, but His Wife Opposes

A 28-year-old man faced a life-altering decision after his father’s death left his 11-year-old sister orphaned. Though he and his wife had agreed to a child-free lifestyle, he now had to choose between honoring that commitment or taking in his sister, who wanted to live with him over their uncle.

He described the situation on Reddit, explaining that due to their age gap, he had long acted as a father figure to his sister. Despite his wife’s firm stance against raising children, he felt compelled to step in. When tensions escalated, he told his wife: “I’m doing this whether you agree or not — either accept it or we get divorced.”
