Country legend hospitalised after heart attack

Recovery is currently underway in a Nashville hospital. After a troubling incident on July 4, when an elderly man complained of severe chest pain, he was rushed to the emergency room. Doctors quickly performed a heart catheterization, which helped clarify the nature of the issue.

Fortunately, the diagnosis wasn’t the worst-case scenario: the heart attack was mild. Thanks to the doctors’ swift intervention, serious complications were avoided. However, further treatment required surgery, which was successfully performed on July 8.

The man in question is 86-year-old country singer and comedian Ray Stevens, known for his hits Everything is Beautiful and Misty. According to an official statement on his Facebook page, Ray is now out of the ICU and has begun walking the hospital halls with assistance. “Ray is very grateful for all the cards and get-well messages. Everything is still beautiful!” the update read.

Due to his condition, Ray has had to cancel all upcoming performances at his CabaRay Showroom through July 2025. This is not the first hardship he has faced: in 2021, he lost his beloved wife Penny, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage.

Ray’s music career began in 1957 when he signed with Capitol Records. Since then, he has earned 11 Grammy nominations and won two awards. Today, the music world is united in wishing him a full and speedy recovery.
