Initially, the parents believed it was merely the result of watching the Pixar movie “Monsters, Inc.” They even gave her a “monster spray” in the form of a bottle of water, but the “monsters” didn’t go away.
Later, Sailor’s mother noticed a buzzing sound above her room and discovered that it was bees. After contacting a pest control company, they learned that these were honey bees—a protected species in the U.S.
A beekeeper noticed that the bees were gathering right above Sailor’s room, pried a piece of the wall away, and found a hive.
“They just poured out, like something from a horror movie,” said the girl’s mother, Massis Klass.
The beekeeper was able to collect the bees from the wall and relocate them to a bee sanctuary. In total, he removed about 60,000 bees and 100 pounds (45 kg) of honeycombs.
