For many years, she stepped onto stages and screens with the same strength she used to fight for her life. Millions knew her — for her talent, her sincerity, and her incredible ability to shine even in the darkest days. But this week, the world learned news no one could truly prepare for.
On Tuesday morning, a short announcement appeared on her official page. Just a few lines — but they shattered the hearts of fans across the world. The message stated that she had “left this dimension,” leaving behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and love. They wrote about a woman who “kicked cancer’s ass every single day” and who never allowed illness to extinguish her spark.
Her loved ones added that she never let the disease break her spirit. The smile viewers recognized never disappeared — not even in moments when doctors could offer no more hope. For nearly ten years, she lived between stages of diagnosis and stages of performing, filling every space around her with a warmth that seemed indestructible.
Only after these words did the world learn who the message was about: 46-year-old So You Think You Can Dance star Donyelle Jones, who passed away after a long battle with breast cancer.

She had been fighting Stage 3C breast cancer, which later progressed into Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Despite the prognosis and the pain, she continued to dance — onstage, in life, and in the hearts of those who grew up watching her.
A week before her passing, fans were shown a deeply emotional video: Donyelle sat in a chair, wearing oxygen tubes, but still with the familiar, gentle smile.
“Most of you know that I’m now in hospice… I’ve done everything possible to extend my time in this dimension. At this point, I surrender to whatever God’s will is,” she said calmly, without fear.
She revealed that her liver had stopped functioning, yet she still believed in a miracle.
“I’m audacious. And I have to believe that you can do it. But I’m also aware that I’ve already received ten years of miracles. What more could I possibly ask for?”
