Following her exit, Long starred in films such as Hello Again and Troop Beverly Hills, though neither achieved significant success. She later reprised her role as Diane in the Cheers finale (1993), earning another Emmy nomination, and made guest appearances in its spinoff, Frasier. In the 2010s, she found a recurring role as DeDe Pritchett on Modern Family. Her last credited film role was in The Cleaner (2021).
