Melania Trump has barely been seen at the White House since Donald Trump began his second term as President on January 20. Despite recently passing the 100-day mark, the former First Lady has reportedly spent fewer than 14 days at the White House — and even that estimate may be generous, according to The New York Times.
At 55, Melania has kept a very low profile, skipping most of Trump’s campaign events and even avoiding his numerous court appearances. She’s only been seen publicly a few times — at Pope Francis’ funeral, the White House Easter Egg Roll, a March speech about cracking down on AI-generated intimate images, and at an event honoring Barbara Bush and military moms.
Many are now asking: Where is she?
Melania reportedly prefers to live at Trump Tower in New York, where her son Barron is attending college. In a Fox News interview, she admitted the White House was “challenging” to live in during Trump’s first term, but added she’s now “more prepared” and has selected furniture for a move-in — though it’s unclear when or if she’ll fully relocate.
Trump himself hasn’t spent much time at the White House either, with NBC News reporting he spent 40 out of his first 100+ days at personal properties like Mar-a-Lago and Trump National Doral.
In the interview, Melania said she’s committed to her role as First Lady but emphasized that her top priority is being a mom. She stated she’ll go where needed — whether New York, Palm Beach, or Washington — and reiterated her independence:
“I have my own thoughts. I don’t always agree with my husband, and that’s okay.”
