Erika Kirk’s words haunt everyone after husband Charlie Kirk is assassinated

Charlie Kirk, the progressive force behind Turning Point USA —one of the largest student-focused political groups in the country — was roughly 20 minutes into his speech at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, when a gunshot struck him in the neck.

Footage from the event shows Kirk collapsing backward as blood poured from the wound.

He was rushed to a hospital, but was later pronounced dead. The news of his passing was shared by President Donald Trump who considered Kirk “a very, very good friend.”

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

As of now, no suspects have been arrested.

Kirk leaves behind wife Erika and their two children, a daughter, 3, and a son, just 16 months old.

The couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in May. They tied the knot in 2021 with what Erika described as a “very intimate” ceremony in Arizona, keeping things simple without bridesmaids, groomsmen, or even a bachelorette party.

She wrote at the time, “Slow down. It’s one day; yes it marks a new chapter of life. Yes, it symbolizes a special covenant between you, your husband and the Lord. But remember it’s the days afterward that matter more.”

Just weeks before his death, Charlie and Erika appeared on Fox & Friends with their children. A widely shared clip showed their daughter sprinting across the studio floor into Charlie’s arms as he lifted her up mid-broadcast.

Mere hours before the tragedy that took her husband away from her and her children, Erika Kirk posted a verse from Psalm 46:1: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Following Kirk’s tragic shooting, Erika was sent prayers and condolences on social media

“Your husband is with Jesus. He was a hero and an inspiration. You will see him again, although I know that is no consolation to you and your precious babies right now.

“I’m so sorry that you are going through this. Evil is rampant in this country,”one person wrote.

Another said that the “Christians of this nation are praying for you and your family,” while a third commented: “Jesus is holding you in his warm embrace. We are heartbroken.”

Running her own ministry and faith-based clothing brand, Erika had stayed quiet on social media until just two days before the tragic event. A post from the day before read: “Psalm 34:8 – Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”

As the nation grieves Charlie Kirk, Erika’s story serves as a reminder of the struggle of coping with loss under the public eye. While media and political commentators speculate about Turning Point USA’s future, few could truly grasp her daily reality: cherishing her husband’s legacy while keeping her family’s life moving forward.
