Trump issues scathing response after approval ratings show what US really thinks of him 10 months into presidency

Donald Trump has responded to new approval ratings, and safe to say, he’s not very happy about it.

It’s 10 months into Trump’s second stint in the White House, and approval ratings have already indicated an unfavorable picture for the president.

One approval rating was published by The Economist, and gives a clear picture of Trump’s popularity – and came as the president launched into a social media tirade against pollsters.

This is not the first time that Trump has reacted furiously to an opinion poll, previously pushing back against Fox News after their poll last month said 52 percent of Americans feel the economy is in a worse state under his leadership.

And the latest poll from The Economist told a similar story.

In their poll, Trump’s net approval rating 10 months into his presidency was -17 percent, which also meant that it was down 0.5 points since last week as the government remains in shutdown.

Five percent of people polled said that they are ‘not sure’ about Trump, the smallest group by far.

As for those who approve of him, this currently sits at 39 percent of people who said they have a favorable view of Trump.

But the biggest group by far in The Economist poll is that of people who disapprove of Trump.

This makes up 56 percent of people who responded, which takes the disapproval at well over half, and seemingly continuing to rise.

The -17 approval rating, The Economist said, is about where it was at the same point in Trump’s first presidency, when it sat at -15 percent.

Meanwhile, statistician Nate Silver’s Silver Bulletin poll – which calculates Trump’s net approval across numerous pollsters – was -9.5 as of today (October 27).

And it’s safe to say that Trump hasn’t taken the polling well.

Taking to Truth Social, the social media platform that he owns, Trump wrote: “After winning THREE Elections, BY A LOT, I am now getting the best Polling Numbers that I have ever received.”

Of course, Trump has in fact won two presidential elections – first in 2016 and then again in 2024, but many of his devotees still contest that he in fact won in 2020.

Trump then continued: “People see how strong the Economy is, the Trillions of Dollars of Investment pouring into our Country, the Record Setting Strong Border (After years of millions of criminals pouring through it, totally unvetted and unchecked!), ending 8 wars in eight months, no men playing in women’s sports, no transgender for everyone, rapidly falling Energy prices, and much more!”

The president continued, without making clear what polls he was talking about: “Despite all of this, the Radical Left Losers are taking fake ads, not showing REAL Polls, but rather saying that I’m Polling at low levels.

“These are the people that I’ve been beating for years, and am continuing to do so, but by even bigger margins. These ads should not be allowed to run because they are FAKE!”
