The advent of the internet has changed everything about our lives, from how we deal with long boring queues at the bank, by staring at our phones, to our most intimate moments of private onanism, where we also stare at our phones.
As we spend so much of our lives spent looking at a screen, content providers are able to tell a lot about us from how we consume content and, at this time of year, some of these internet giants like to share these viewing habits with us.
This struck music listeners everywhere yesterday (3 December) with the release of Spotify’s Wrapped, which showed everyone which songs they had been sticking on repeat all year.
But while millions were happy to share what their favorite genres of 2025 were hyperpop or jazz fusion, it’s fair to say that most would not want to share with their friends what their favorite category of pornography was.
Yet for the curious, one porn company has now shared the three most searched for types of adult content – and when in the week and day people are watching it.
A new end-of-year report from a porn company has given us some insight into what people have been searching for this year.
Thankfully unlike Spotify this one isn’t personalized, so you won’t have to face finding out how many minutes, or hours, you’ve spent watching adult content this year.
While Pornhub is due to release its annual data dump in the coming weeks, the ethical and female-led porn company Ersties has published its analysis of user trends in 2025.
In its Ethical Porn Trends Report, Ersties found that viewers show ‘a growing global desire for intimacy-first content, creative game-show scenarios, and performer-driven fantasies, all rooted in transparency and ethical production’.
According to the German company, it places consent and ethics at the center of its production model, speaking to models at length about what they feel comfortable doing and how they like doing it.
But this does not mean that the content is softcore, in fact, many of its users are seeking out something a bit more titillating than missionary under the covers.
The number one searched porn category on the website in 2025 was ‘anal’. Ersties said that these users ‘overwhelmingly funnelled into shoots where performers explicitly discussed boundaries, preparation, and pleasure cues, highlighting a growing appetite for consensual, realistic depictions of anal play rather than intense or performative styles typical on other platforms’.
Taking second and third place behind this surprising boom in ethical consumption in their most-viewed categories list were the search terms ‘squirt’ followed by ‘threesome’.
They also outlined growing search trends among users, with more and more people seeking out previously niche topics.
The company described a ‘noticeable rise in searches for more niche, playful, and highly specific interests’, including acts like pegging and content about feet.
The notable trends in search volumes were:
– More pegging
– More feet content
– More pee-play
– Armpit licking
– Sweaty armpits
– Tights and stockings
The company said: “As more people feel comfortable looking up exactly what they like, Ersties continues to be a space where those curiosities can be explored without judgement and with plenty of transparency.”
The company went on to explain when people are most likely to be viewing their website, giving an insight into why and when people are consuming porn.
They found that people were most likely to have some ‘private time’ on Sundays and Mondays, meaning that many users are watching adult content to cap off a stressful week, or start a new one with a bang.
Most people are consuming pornography between 9pm and midnight, their analysis suggested. Ersties suggested that this indicated users own ‘post-work relaxation and late-evening wind-down routines’.
