Trump wins inaugural Peace Prize from FIFA and issues response

President Donald Trump issued a thankful statement after being issued newly created “FIFA Peace Prize” at a ceremony.

Earlier this year, Donald Trump repeatedly insisted that he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, as did many of his supporters. However, the POTUS did not go on to win the award. It was instead awarded to María Corina Machado.

Well, Trump has now been awarded a peace prize: the newly created FIFA Peace Prize at a ceremony during the World Cup Draw. The 2026 tournament will be co-hosted by the US, Mexico and Canada.

Trump, who attended with the First Lady, said that the award was ‘one of the great honors of my life’.

According to FIFA, the prize is meant to ‘reward individuals who have taken exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace and by doing so have united people across the world’.

During the ceremony, that was held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C, FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented Trump a gold medal, which he put on immediately as he stood alongside his trophy.

Trump has said on several occasions his influence has been key in stopping multiple wars across the world, even going as far to tell Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: “They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me.”

In August, during a summit with Ukrainian and European leaders, Trump again made his case for getting the award.

He said: “I’ve done six wars, I’ve ended six wars.

“If you look at the six deals I settled this year, they were all at war. I didn’t do any ceasefires.”

More recently, Trump renamed the Institute of Peace to the Donald J. Trump United States Institute of Peace, reiterating his stance that he believes himself to be the ‘president of peace’.
